MURPHY—Developer Murphy Plaza, LLC, based in Parker, Texas, is under way with plans to start construction on Murphy Plaza, a regional retail center designed to incorporate approximately 150,000 square feet of retail space upon completion. The center, located at the northwest quadrant of FM 544 & North Murphy Road, is designed to feature a major health club, three junior anchors, multi-tenant retail buildings and four pad sites along FM 544, the major east-west thoroughfare in Murphy.

The first major concept announced for Murphy Plaza is LA Fitness, a national fitness superclub chain founded in 1984 that now ranks as one of the most actively expanding concepts in Dallas/Fort Worth. LA Fitness will occupy a 45,000-square-foot location in Murphy Plaza.  Irvine, California-based LA Fitness reports that a typical club generates 1,000 workouts a day by an active, well-educated client base. 

The Weitzman Group is the exclusive leasing agent for Murphy Plaza; Brian Glaser, president of the Commercial Retail D/FW, handles marketing. John Zikos with Venture Commercial represented LA Fitness in the transaction.

The developer plans to begin site work for Murphy Plaza in August. Completion of the regional-draw center is scheduled for spring 2008.  The architect for Murphy Plaza is Robert Holton with Heights Venture Architects, LLC.

Murphy ranks as one of the fastest-growing and most affluent residential markets in D/FW.
