SAN ANTONIO—Famed local restaurateur Damien J. Watel, well known for creating a French culinary destination in San Antonio, has leased Top of Broadway, a 3,450-square-foot restaurant space in Alamo Heights.
Marcus Shaffer and Charlie Riddle with Weitzman represented the landlord in the transaction.
Chef Watel will relocate his longtime Bistro Vatel restaurant, opened in 1999 in Olmos Park and closed last year, and reopen it at Top of Broadway as Bistro 09 in fall 2018.
Top of Broadway, which also features a 1,200-square-foot patio, is ideally located in an affluent, dense trade area at 6106 Broadway at Townsend Avenue. Within a one-mile radius of the site, the population totals more than 12,000 in approximately 5,200 households with an average household income of $159,229. Within a three-mile radius, the population totals nearly 112,000 people in approximately 41,000 households with an average household income of $87,636.
Broadway, with more than 26,400 vehicles daily, is a strong retail corridor with traffic drivers such as Central Market and others. The location also is conveniently located adjacent to the Alamo Heights City Hall.
